What shock/strut combo is the all around best performer/quality/durability that most people seem to like? I havent gone to the forums yet, but figured id ask while im looking in the meantime. Heres a shot from my driveway photo shoot of the lude the other day. mazda snuck herself in there. Im now shooting full manual instead of aperture priority, and i love it.

Are you looking to lower it and/or improve performance? If not, I had one strut replaced a few years ago and I just went OEM and it has served me just fine.
Nice photo btw.

Not looking to lower or go crazy performance. Just a bit more reliable than OEM mazda, which i kind of want to steer away from, since it seems the shocks dont seem to go the distance. From what i read, shocks were always an issue on these cars (1st gen). Unless the newly produced OEM parts are much better?
thanks!

I had a leaky strut at 140k km that was a result of clipping a curb at some speed (the control arm was replaced as well). The other one is still fine at 226k km. I guess I haven't really experienced that issue. I would expect to need to replace the remaining one at some point in the near enough future and I'll replace them as a set this time. If you decide on a better set, let me know what you end up going with.

There are a few options on rockauto that seem to be good contenders. Just as a oem fitment replacement. Not looking to break the bank on this, so coilovers are not on the agenda. Those are for the prelude haha.
Ill let you know what we go with. It will be soon. We just have to pull the trigger...
